Dryer Vent Optimization, Roof Jack Replacement, and Dryer Vent Cleaning in Fairhope, Alabama

This project involved a full residential venting installation and complete dryer vent system optimization in Fairhope, Alabama. The homeowner had a traditional goose-neck style roof jack, which is not the most effective option for a roof termination.

A goose-neck termination is similar to putting your thumb over the end of a water hose. While it may increase air speed at the exit point, it restricts overall air volume leaving the system. In dryer venting, volume is critical. When airflow volume is restricted, lint accumulation increases, drying times get longer, efficiency drops, and fire risk rises.

As part of this residential venting installation, we removed the existing goose-neck roof termination and replaced it with an InOvate DryerJack roof vent. By eliminating the restrictive design, we essentially “took the thumb off the hose,” allowing greater air volume to exit the system. This allows the dryer to breathe properly and operate at peak performance.

We also installed a Dryer-Ell at a tight 90-degree bend in the duct run. Traditional hard 90-degree elbows create turbulence and unnecessary resistance. The Dryer-Ell improves airflow dynamics, reduces static pressure, and increases overall exhaust volume.

To complete the optimization, we performed a full system cleanout, removing all lint buildup and obstructions throughout the duct system.

Post-optimization wind velocity reading: approximately 2,100 feet per minute

Not only did we nearly double the wind velocity, but we also significantly increased the total air volume leaving the system. The result is improved dryer performance, shorter drying cycles, reduced energy consumption, and enhanced fire safety.

This residential venting installation is now fully optimized — and the dryer is operating exactly the way it was designed to.
